Hydrological concepts:
  1. staff gage – fixed measurment device with standard dimension and graduated scale on which, with accuracy of ±1 cm, water stage can be observed;
  2. water stage – vertical distance of water mirror from zero on the water gage scale, expressed in centimeters, with leading minus ''-'' if water stage is under the zero;
  3. potencial gradient – difference of underground water stage level between two points of consideration, divided by their distance and expressed as relation of these values, or in percents or in promiles;
  4. reporting station – hydrological station from which observed and measured data about qualitative and/or quantitative water characteristics are in real time delivered to collection center;
  5. surface water hydrological stations network – sum of all hydrological stations on natural or artificial water currents on the territory of Republic of Serbia, which are under authority of Republic Hydrometeorological Service of Serbia and whose maintaining and functioning are financed by the Republic of Serbia budget;
  6. underground water of first groundwater hydrological stations network – sum of all hydrological stations of underground water of first groundwater on the territory of Republic of Serbia, which are under authority of Republic Hydrometeorological Service of Serbia and whose maintaining and functioning are financed by the Republic of Serbia budget;
  7. organoleptic water characteristics – water characteristics observed by senses;
  8. piezometer – hydrogeological drill-hole built in such a way that water level in it corresponds to the water level in their vicinity and serves for meauserement of distance between fixed point on that construction and water level, also when needed for water temperature measurement and water sampling for the purpose of analysing its quality;
  9. transport of suspended sediment – mass of suspended sediment which flows through cross section of water current in a time unit and is expressed in g/s or kg/s or t/year;
  10. water flow – water volume which flows through cross section of water current in a time unit and is expressed in m3/s or l/s;
  11. suspended sediment – a part of a whole river sediment which is kept in a suspension as a result of turbulent water flow in water current;
  12. station establishing – sum of all activities and jobs, started with needs analysis, decision making, choosing of microlocation, building, equipment instalation ending with putting it in exploitation of surface or groundwater hydrological station;
  13. surface water hydrological station – stationary measure point on a water current, channel, natural or artificial lake (accumulation) with corresponding objects and equipment on which are performed determined program of measurement/observation and sampling;
  14. groundwater hydrological station – piezometer, or batery of piezometers or profile of piezometers on which are performed measurement and sampling in accorDayce with determined program.
